David Worters

Principal and Founding Broker/Agent

Get to Know Me

Ever since helping launch Compass Carolinas as a founding principal in 2021, David has been the firm's top-producing individual agent. He has been included in the Triangle Business Journal’s Book of Lists “Top Real Estate Agents in the Triangle” for eight consecutive years and REAL Trends’ “America’s Best Agents” List in every year since 2017 save 2019. His real estate practice extends over all of Wake County and the Triangle and in 2022 he closed 58 transactions for a total volume of more than $41,000,000. Additionally, he assists luxury clients in Avery and Watauga Counties, principally Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock. David also founded the upper-end firm-within-a-firm Triangle Luxury Collective at Compass in 2023.

David enjoys the incredible diversity of homes and clients with which he works and is respected for his responsiveness, dedication, support, attention to the tiny details and passionate commitment to his clients’ best interests. David also tries, to the extent possible, to keep the real estate journey as light and fun as possible, understanding that real estate transactions frequently coincide with often-stressful major life events in one’s life.

David navigated to real estate after a 25-year career in the entertainment and performing arts world, including more than ten years as President and CEO of the North Carolina Symphony. He credits his mother and father, accomplished professional and amateur pianists respectively, for fostering his love of music. A native of the Boston area, he grew up in Newton, Massachusetts and earned his undergraduate degree in economics at Harvard.

Prior to making Raleigh his permanent home in the 1990s, David lived in cities ranging from Chicago to San Francisco and Spokane to Fort Worth, instilling in him a deeply felt appreciation of the concept of “home” and what makes every community unique and special in its own way. David is the incredibly proud father of his daughter Olivia who is studying at Appalachian State University and he is married to Miranda Yeager, an executive in the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry. The family's three-year-old rescue dog is Maggie (or Margaret or Maggie Moo).

They love their Raleigh neighborhood of Blenheim for its walkability, diversity of architecture, location and wonderful canine and human neighbors. In their down time, you are most likely to find David and his family rooting for the Carolina Hurricanes or Alabama Crimson Tide, enjoying a live performance at the Durham Performing Arts Center or Memorial Hall at UNC-Chapel Hill, trying out a new restaurant or spending time in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains or abroad. Recent travels have taken them to Spain, Israel, Turkey, Wales, Greece, Finland and Sweden and, soon, a return to Italy.

David enjoys, in equal measure, helping newcomers and longtime North Carolina residents alike find their place in the world and he is excited to be a part of launching Compass in the Raleigh market.

Get to Know Me

David and Emma became a team almost as quickly as she joined their previous firm and they have worked together ever since. Like David, Emma hails from “up north” (in her case Michigan) although she professes to have always felt a strong pull southward. She attributes this draw to her seven-year-old self falling in love with the movie Sweet Home Alabama. She moved to Raleigh on a leap of faith and now calls North Carolina home. She intersects with David’s clients at multiple important points during their real estate journey and they often describe her as personable, fun, attentive, hard-working, and incredibly thorough. She has quickly become invaluable to David and his Compass clients — a reality his clients remind him of frequently — and she is simultaneously building a real estate practice of her own. When she's not working, Emma enjoys the hunt of antiquing at local shops, estate sales and Facebook marketplace. She loves restoring charm and character to once-beautiful pieces that need to be reminded of their former beauty and her home in the Meredith Woods neighborhood is furnished with one-of-a-kind vintage treasures. When her hands aren't covered in sawdust or paint, you can often find her chasing foster puppies. She has two perfectly imperfect mutts, who are a nonstop source of comic relief and fodder for Instagram posts. She also is deeply involved with Hope Animal Rescue, enjoys volunteering with Backpack Buddies and is an active member of the Junior League of Raleigh.
